i am a 55yr old woman, who has had an transvaginal scan the report stated that , the myometrium echogenicity was heterogenous and suggestive of diffuse adenomyosis. The left overy mesures 9mls including a 15x14 dominat follicle, the left overy wasn t visulised during the scan.i am very worried as my gp did really explain anything to me but refer me to see a gynaecologist.
Hi, I M Dr.Kumarbhargav I understood your problem Adenomyosis is basically uterine lining cells growing directly into the uterine muscles, it can be diagnosed by clinical history, Ultrasonography. But it can be confirmed only by biopsy. Because conditions mimicking like adenomyosis, may be there like fibroids (leiomyomas) etc. Looking to your profile If I would have been your treating clinician i would suggest Combined oral contraceptive pills with estrogen and progesterone or Progesterone only pills if condition is controlable, with anti inflammatory drugs for pain. But hysterectomy may be done if you are having severe pain and bleeding. So you can be tried on combined oral estrogen and progesterone pills with anti inflammatory drugs. If not relieved just confirm whether it is adenomyosis or else, and proceed accordingly. Thanks for contacting health care magic. ask if you want more details. Take care
