Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Burning Sensation Behind The Thighs Indicate?
Hi there, yesterday I had an overwhelming feeling of burning and cramping starting on my back thigh. Since then the pain was moved down my leg to my calf and now to my ankle/toes. It feels like jolts of electricity going down my leg and almost feels like something is crushing my ankle. What could this possibly be?
Noted the history and understood your concerns. My thoughts and suggestions are as below. The commonest causes of burning or shock like pain in back of thighs thence extending to calves and feet is slipped inter vertebral disc causing compression of nerves supplying lower limds. This is akin to sciatica.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Take full rest.
Consult a Neurosurgeon for clinical evaluation, examination and MRI of lower spine to know the exact diagnosis and get treated accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
