What Does Bulky Uterus With Posterior Wall Fibroid Mean?
UTERUS•• • scan of the pelvis anteverted, bulky size uterus measuring 8.0 × 5.0 × 5.8cm. • Endometrial lining echoes measuring 0.9cm. • A rounded hypoechoic area measuring approximately 4.1×3.0cm is seen in posterior uterus, suggestive of sub serosal fibroid. OVARIES•• . Right ovary measures 2.3×1.7cm. . Left ovary measures 2.2× 1.4 cm. . no free fluid seen in cul- de- sac. . Both andexa are clear. IMPRESSION•• • Bulky uterus with posterior wall fibroid. • Normal both ovaries. Pls give me suggestion.
A fibroid is a thickening in the muscular wall of the uterus and is a benign lesion. It can vary is size and number and can be left alone if it does not cause problems.
I would get a detailed history of your symptoms, if present and based on this would judge if you need any intervention or not. This depends on your age and plans for having a baby.
In your case, if asymptomatic and not planning for a baby, there is nothing to worry about. This just says that you have a fibroid about 4 cms in the back (posterior) wall of your uterus. Symptoms can include heavy bleed /pain while menstruating or even in between, difficulty conceiving, back pressure.
Please see your OBGYN for a clinical exam and further treatment options. Hope this helps. Wish you good health
