Diffuse bulge and left para central extrusion of l4/5 iv disc with mild facetal arthropathy and ligamentum flavum thickning causing eccentric thecal sac effacement and left lateral recess narrowing with slight compression of transiting l5 nerve root . Diffuse bulge of l3/4iv disc with mild facetal arthropathy causing slight effacement of the thecal sac but no obvious radicular compression . Normal spinal cord. Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear sir,
Your spine is made up of blocks of bones stacked one on top of the other with intervening disc which act as shock absorbers. This on the other hand acts as a conduit to the spinal cord through which it passes which in turn gives rise to many nerves which run down your legs. Due to multiple reasons these discs can bulge or slip and start producing compression effects of the nerves and its roots which in turn can give rise to the pain running down from the back to your legs-radiculopathy. Facetal arthropathy and ligamentum flavum thickening are other reasons which can cause decrease in the space inside the spinal canal thus increasing the symptoms. In case you are having pain in your back or thighs which is running down to your legs I would suggest meet a neurologist immediately who can further help you in deciding the future treatment.
