What Does Blood Level Of 3+ Indicate In Urine Test?
Hi, I got a urine test done and the test said that my blood level in the urine is 3+. I am going for a repeat test tomorrow. I just wanted to know whether it is possible that the tests are faulty considering that I consumed five 650 ml bottles of beer same morning starting at 2:00 am till 6:00 am and didnt sleep the whole night. And went straight for the medical check up at 12:30 pm the same day. Thanks
Hello and welcome to HCM, Presence of 3+ red blood cells in urine suggest presence of large number of red blood cells in urine. Red blood cells in urine can be present due to trauma in the urinary tract which is commonly due to stones or disorders in the kidney. Consumption of large quantities of alcohol is not known to cause red blood cells in urine, however, alcohol can lead to damage in the kidney which can lead to bleeding. You can get repeat urine examination done. Besides urine examination, you also need to consult your physician for renal function tests.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
