What Does Blood In Urine Indicate For A Woman, Post Menopause?

i AM 64 YEARS old and haven't had a period in approx. 20 years. I just had some blood when I urinated and my stomach has that same queasy feeling I used to get at the onset of my period. What could this be? I did have an episode of colitis in my 20's but nothing after that.

Hi,

Having blood just for once in urine may be just nothing. But repeated episodes of blood in urine may indicate some problem. Cause may be-simple infection-stones-polyp or tumor in urethra ureters bladder.

- some drugs which gives red color to urine[quinine rifampicin sulfonamide antibiotics]
- cysts in kidney what you need to do is check if blood in urine episode repeats

1. If repeated consult urologist to evaluate for any above diseases

2. If not repeated, don't worry. You can go for testing urine for invisible blood [microscopic haematuria]

Hope my answer helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sagar
