What Does Bilateral Talipes Of Congenital Anomaly Scan Result Suggest?
Hi, we are expecting and now at 24 weeks. Had Congenital Anomaly Scan and it showed both bilateral talipes (clubfeet) and mild ventriculomegaly (11.60mm). What are we to expect and what are the chances our baby will turn out still to be a normal baby? More concerned on the hyrocephalus case... thanks!
Talipes is a deformity in the ankle and foot area. In about half of babies that are born with talipes, both feet are affected. This is an orthopedic and locomotion problem. Ventricles in the brain are spaces containing fluid. The normal measurement should be around 6 to 8 mm. However the measurement of the ventricle varies with the person doing the scan and some people overestimate it. If it is 11 mm and there is no other problem with the fetus brain there any further brain problems are less likely.
