What Does Apparent Wall Thickening Involving The Colon Indicate?
I just had a CT scan done and the readings says :There are areas of apparent wall thickening involving the colon as well as the terminal ileum however it is possible this is related to underdistention rather than true primary bowel process such as from Crohn s disease. What does this mean?
In CT scan the large bowel can be seen in various degrees of distension as per the fullness of the bowel. When the bowels are filled then the walls appear thin and when not filled they can appear apparently thickened. This apparent thickening must be separated from thickening in disease. Your doctor has said that the thickening is not due to disease but because of non filling of large bowel.
