What Does An Infected Bump On Elbow Indicate?

I had a pus bump on my elbow that caused pain when I would lean on it and I popped it thinking nothing about it and it hurt but was fine for about a week and then I woke up and the side of my arm near my elbow began to swell up and it hurts when I touch it and it s kinda feverish. I was wondering if this could be serious or not. I may have bumped it as well because I did go hiking a few days ago but i don t remember bumping my elbow any. I have ice on it right now.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It based on the description it could be an abscess which needs proper drainage and antibiotic cover. Please go to an OTA or surgeon for sterile procedure as soon as possible. Otherwise, it would cause high grade fever.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Fahum Akhter, General & Family Physician
