What Does An Altered Sense Of Smell Indicate?

Hi, I don t know what s wrong with me my nose smells like cheese (the creases) and the inside when I rub it, it s itchy and also my chin.. it has a cheesy smell, usually when I eat fast food or something that contains cheese, but I also notice that I have a bad breath and my head is itchy. When I don t wash my head with head and shoulders it smells bad.

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are experiencing altered sense of smell which seems to be due to nasal polyp, acid reflux and nerve dysfunction like olfactory nerve.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to maintain complete hygiene of oral cavity and consult ENT specialist for proper Examination. Doctor may order CT scan, nasal endoscopy , blood test and physical examination and may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) at least for 10 days along with anti inflammatory. Doctor may also consider surgery or refer you to neurologist.
