Hi Doctor: recently had blood work done. need a brief explaination what the abreviations HCT, MCV, MCH, and PLT. I was told that my blood cell count may be either high or low, and now have been sent to an Oncologist and am very concerned. All of these items are in the abnormal column of my lab work page.
HCT is packed cell value result and MCV is mean corpuscular volume which reflects the size of RBC.
MCH related to hemoglobinization of red blood cell.
Platelet is the granular cytoplasmic fragment of megakaryocyte and it is related to many pathologies. A very high count suggest towards essential thrombocythemia or very low count in dengue, infection etc.
I need to check your report and then can help you further.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
