Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Usually, advanced arthritis means the bones wear out so much that is rubbing bone against bone in the small joints of the spine. Also, it may have osteophytes that are bone spur that create more stiffness in the neck.

Besides your physical therapy you can add medication from mouth such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen.

If the pain does not go away after 1 month then I would do a neck MRI to exclude any cervical disc hernia that may need surgery.

Wish you quick recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Edvin Selmani
