What Does Abnormal Reading On Bone Marrow Suggest?

My daughter Recently had a sprain of her MCL. During a routine MRI, the radiologist discovered an abnormal reading of the bone marrow in her tibia below the knee joint. They have referred us to see a hematologist/oncologist for further testing. What could this mean?
