Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Abnormal Movement In The Right Hand Of A Toddler Indicate?
I did a well exam on a 18 month toddler who is walking normally but holds R arm flexed at elbow and swings L extremity. Otherwise R arm and hand normal motor movements. She actually sucks thumb of R hand. I think this is normal variant but I have not found anything of this phenomenom in lilterature. Have you seen this?
If the muscle tone and motor power is normal in the affected arm, then with normal motor examination, holding of arm in flexed position can be considered, a ligament stretch or something else.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
