General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Skin lesions that last more than a few months need to be biopsied to rule out any development of malignancy.
I would recommend you to talk with your dermatologist and discuss the risk that the lesions may be serious and if a biopsy would be indicated.
Maybe the doctor is planning to have a biopsy if the local treatment does not work.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
