What Does A While Line On The Bottom Lip Indicate?

Hey Doc, I have a white line under my bottom lip that is clearly a different skin tone then the rest of my face. It started at the beginning of June and still has not gone away in September. I was exposed to a lot of sun when it first happened and I also went a lot in a pool. I don t have any other symptoms. Can you please help out?

Hi Dear,


Understanding your concern. As you asked in your query about while line on the bottom lip, well this is a condition called chapped lips due to environment factors like dry weather, excessive picking of lips and applying saliva with tongue frequently which takes away the natural moisture, sun burn and nutritional deficiency. I would suggest you to not to pick your lips ,do not wet it with saliva ,apply petroleum jelly for moisture ,apply sunscreen with SPF 50 and containing zinc oxide,wash your face twice a day,drink plenty of water and take fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. Aloe vera gel is also very effective in discoloration. If condition persists or doesn't improve in 10 days then consult dermatologist and start treatment accordingly.
