6 weeks ago my partner had a laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy when a third of the tail of the pancreas was removed plus a splenectomy and 17 lymph nodes removed. He is doing very well but has now noticed a swollen vein in his armpit. Should he go to his GP
hi mam, that might not be a swollen vein in his armpit.the following are the possibilities: 1)swollen lymph node(occurs in infections and malignancy) 2)boil or furuncle(usually painful) 3)lipoma(a benign tumour) 4)cysts due to staphylococcal infections 5)hydradenitis suppurativa(rare cause of swelling of sweat glands near hair follicles.) as your partner had undergone distal pancreatectomy,he might be some what immunocompromised and might also be suffering from insulin deficiencydiabetes mellitus.all these would make him easily prone to infections.a thorough physical examination is essential to arrive at a diagnosis.treatment can be appropriate only with a specific diagnosis.hope you understand the need of a physician consultation.any other health issues,i'm always here to address.thank you.take care.bye.
