What Does A Swollen Lymph Node Around The Left Ear Indicate?

Hi! I am a 50 year old female. I have a swollen lymph node next to my left ear, close to the ear canal, kind of between my head and the ear canal. I have been on two rounds of antibiotics, amoxicillin, and cephlexan, not sure if i spelled them right. I have had it for about three months. I also just got over a toe infection, that popped up out of nowhere. I think my toe is healed now. The problem is this hard to the touch lumph node that wont go away. I am extremely worried. Thanks

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You have taken almost all routine antibiotics for infective lymph node enlargement.
Sometimes we should rule out tuberculosis as a cause for this lymph node enlargement.
Your lymph node is not improving despite of taking multiple antibiotics.
So better to get ultrasound guided FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) done.
This will diagnose if it is tubercular or not.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Regards,
Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar
