What Does A Sore Spot Above The Right Ear Indicate?

I had a sore head right above my right ear Sunday, and on Monday my ear and neck hurt like a very sore muscle. Sometime it makes the right side of my throat sore. The neck pain is the worst, espesially when I turn my head just right and it sends shooting pains onto the right side of my head. So far it has not affected my sleeping. Tonight (fourth day) I see the red rash starting around the right side of the hair line going up around the ear, one spot in front of the lobe, and two on the front of my neck. None in the hair yet.. I went to the Dr. today before there where and red spots, so he thought it was my upper back neck muscle, and perscribed some prednisone for five days. Is there anything I can do to help alleviate the neck muscle pain and the shooting needles and pins pain that go up into my hair above my ear. And what can I do to treat the rash, so far I don t have much, and would like to keep them under control. I am an active 71 year old lady.

As per my clinical experience, the issue of red spot indicate underlying inflammation from various reasons.

In addition to Prednisolone, I recommend tablet Ibuprofen if no history of drug sensitivity for anti inflammatory action and pain relief.

Local application of ointment as Polymycin will help to heal it faster.
