What Does A Small Red Spot On Big Toe Indicate?

I have a small reddish spot on the side of my big toe that is not under nail or between toes and is not right on the surface It is about one cm or less I am 66 I am seeing a dermatologist Friday. I am wondering if it could be a melanoma . From what I ve read foot melanoma is usually between toes, under nails or on the sole of the foot.

Hey hi, from the description you have given, it doesn't look like melanoma. You haven't provided any information on whether there was any preexisting lesion over the present spot.
Any change in colour of the previous lesion, irregular borders, change in shape are all the indications to investigate for melanoma.
