What Does A Normal Ultrasound Of The Liver Look Like?

The visualized liver measures 13.0 cm in length, portions of the periphery of the liver are not fully seen. Visualized hepatic external contour is smooth. No focal hepatic lesion identified. Where visualized hepatic echogenicity is mildly increased. There is a slightly coarsened echotexture of the liver. age 31, Hep B carrier. What does this mean.

Hi,

I read carefully your abdominal ultrasound. it is everything normal except " There is a slightly coarsened echotexture of the liver" it means that the smooth structure of the liver is slightly lost.

In this case, since you are Hep B carrier I would recommend doing:

- HBV DNA
- HBeAg

To better determine the role of B virus in this situation. Another cause of this findings is fatty liver due to alcohol use or obesity.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
