What Does A Lump On The Right Thumb Knuckle Indicate?

I have a growth on my right hand knuckle that has been there for a couple years. I have another growth (similar) on my left thumb knuckle that is just forming. It was pretty sore but the pain was s going away being replaced by mild numbness. Any idea what it could be?
