What Does A Lump On The Neck Indicate?

For the past week I have had tender spot on the back of my neck right side. I have seasonal allergies so I thought they were acting up but my allergy medicine is not reducing the tenderness in the gland between my ear and my spine. could I have an infection that should be treated.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of cervical lymphnode is more likely.
Most common cause for this is bacterial upper respiratory tract infection (URTI).
So start broad spectrum antibiotic like levofloxacin or azithromycin.
If swelling reduces then nothing should be done.
But if swelling persists then get done fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) to rule out tubercular infection.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
