What Does A Lump On The Left Foot Indicate?

I have a soft lump the size of a quarter on the left side of my left foot. Sometimes it is a little bit itchy. If i give myself a massage on my foot, then my foot is in a little bit of pain. Also a swelling below my ankle left side outer foot. liz
