What Does A Lump In The Armpit Indicate?

Hi I'm a woman 44 yrs old.
I've had a pea sized lump in my armpit for 2 yrs. Doctors said nothing to worry about. Anyway went to doctors last week as all of a sudden this lump decided to grow hard and red.
Went to doctors and was told its a sebaceous cyst. Given antibiotics and was told they will put me in to have operation to remove it.

After being in pain the cyst leaking pus/clear fluid. The area is feeling really hot itchy sore. Also the side of my breast is sore like a dull ache.
The doctor today told me to go straight to A and E hospital..
It's a abscess. Said the name of it but I can't remember it.Is there any chance it can be cancer as my daughter had Leukaemia and my uncle had bowel cancer both sadly passed away.
