What Does A Horizontal Tear In The Anterior Horn In The Following MRI Report Indicate?

Had MRI of right knee. Impression is IMPRESSION: 1. Horizontal tear in the anterior horn of the medial meniscus with additional free edge tear in the body and anterior horn. Flap tear in the anterior horn and body of the lateral meniscus with a fragment flipped into the superior gutter at the junction of the body and anterior horn. Additional free edge tear in the posterior horn. 2. Intact cruciate and collateral ligaments with ganglion transformation of the ACL. 3. Tricompartmental degenerative joint disease fully detailed above. Will this require surgery?

Hi,

It is important to know your age because treatments are based on the age and severity of the patient. If there is significant pain and discomfort and restriction of movements then a surgery can be done to remove the fragments of torn meniscus and this is a small surgery and can be done using minimally invasive methods.

The knee tricomparmental degenerative changes is another entity and if severe then might need a knee replacement surgery. If you have a mild condition then surgery might not be needed.
