What Does A Hard Lump Midway Between The Armpit And Elbow Indicate?

I have always had a small hard nodule midway between the armpit and Elbow. Lately I have had severe cold and flu symptoms (which are improving )...but the little node is now 4 X it s normal size and exquisitely painful....could this be a lymph node?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This is not a normal site for a lymph node. One needs to examine it to make sure if it is arising from bone or if it is just a tissue soft swelling.

1) If you notice other features like loss of weight, fever, pain in the swelling, rapid increase in size of swelling within a month then report to a doctor urgently.

2) If the swelling is soft, movable, doughy in consistency then in most probability it is a lipoma or fat tissue swelling, which you shouldn't be worried about. it can be removed surgically if only it is cosmetically not liked by you. Kindly observe carefully and report to a doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Suhas Chauhan
