What Does A Fist Sized Lump In The Left Buttock Indicate?

I have a fist sized lump in the left buttock starting from the bottom of the buttock going up near the anus. It s only painful to the touch. It s uncomfortable to sit and get up. I ve had it for about four or five days and the lump hasn t gone down. What could it possibly be and what should I do about it?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The possibilities are an abscess and benign swelling like a lipoma.

Consult a general surgeon and get an ultrasound scan done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
