What Does A Dark Line On Stomach While On Implanon Indicate?

A couple of months ago, a dark line appeared on my stomach. I have been having unprotected sex with my partner. A month before the line came, my birth control experation date was coming. I still have the implanon in my arm, I haven t been back to get it removed. Is there a possibility that I could be pregnant?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Any hormonal birth control measures you take in the form of pills or depot preparations or implants will work only for the said specified period.
If your implant has expired, then you cannot expect any form of protection against pregnancy, until you take other protective measures or get a new implant inserted.
It is not advisable to keep the expired implants as it can cause some allergic reactions like you are experiencing appearance of dark line on stomach.
Kindly take proper contraceptive measures in case you are not planning for pregnancy on consultation with Gynecologist.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
