What Does A Bump Under A Tattoo Indicate?

I ve had my tattoo for 3 years now, and I have never had a problem with it until lately. For the past few months, there has been a single, almost unnoticeable bump under the ink. It never bothered me so I dismissed it. But a few days ago, I noticed the bump was filled with pus, and I popped it. Now the bump has grown larger, there is no visible pus, but it is a bit painful to the touch. Should I be concerned?

Hello,

Welcome to healthcare magic.

From your history and description, I would consider the possibility of a boil or a furuncle.

It seems unrelated to tatto as it has arisen after 3 years.

You could apply an antibiotic cream containing 1% fusidic acid twice a day for 5-10 days.

If it continues to enlarge or causes more pain, you may need a course of oral antibiotics. Please get it prescribed by your GP.

Hope this helps you.

Take care.
