What Does A Blister On The Tip Of An Infant S Tongue Indicate?

My 9 month old granddaughter has a very large white blister/ulcer on the side tip of her tongue. It is the size of a dime and there are no other blisters on the tongue. We took her to the doctor yesterday and they did not know what it was. Said it should go away in a day or two, however as of today it is somewhat larger. I can t find any pictures on the the web that resemble her particular problem. Any ideas?
