What Does A BP Reading Of 163/92 Indicate?

I had a blood pressure reading of 163/92 at the dr s. He repeated it another three times and they were the same. I am having blood tests done on Wednesday but how soon should the blood pressure be checked again. I am a 43 year old female of normal weight.

Hi,

Blood pressure of 162 /92 is slightly more. It may need a drug for proper control specially if it's high on many time.

You may check it a few more times, like twice daily for a week to be sure that it's high but if 3 readings were high then it's likely to be high.

You should avoid added salt, do exercise, and may need a single drug for control of your BP.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
