What Does Cervical Spondylosis Seen Imply In CT Scan Report?
Hi,<My mother (70 yrs) is a diabetic and has been having having problems of unsteadiness for the past 20 years or so. The past 2 months, the unsteadiness has worsened; as per our nerologist's advice, we had an MRI or brain and cervical regions + nerve conduction tests done. The results are as follows in summary :1. Brain scan : Multiple chronic lacunar ischemic foci in bilateral periventricular and adjacent fronto-pareital deep white matter regions. No acute infarcts r intracranial haemorrhage or SOL.2. Cervical scan : Cervical spondylosis seen.3. Nerve conduction test : of the lower limbs shows peripheral neuropathy.I am particularly worried about the brain scan results. Kindly advise.
The findings are explained below in simple language.
1. Brain scan : Multiple chronic lacunar ischemic foci in bilateral periventricular and adjacent fronto-pareital deep white matter regions. No acute infarcts r intracranial haemorrhage or SOL.
There are small areas of deficient blood supply on both sides of the brain. These are old areas where there is decreased blood flow through the small vessels of brain. This is not a serious concern.
This shows that the nerves supplying hands and legs are having a condition which is causing abnormal sensations and this may cause numbness or increased nerve related pain.
At 70 years of age, there is no serious cause for her problems. The causes which are seen are to be managed by supportive treatment and care.

Hi, Thanks for writing in. The findings are explained below in simple language. 1. This is not a serious concern. 2. Cervical scan : Cervical spondylosis seen. This shows that degenerative changes have occurred in the neck spine. This is age related. 3. Nerve conduction test : of the lower limbs shows peripheral neuropathy. This shows that the nerves supplying hands and legs are having a condition which is causing abnormal sensations and this may cause numbness or increased nerve related pain. At 70 years of age, there is no serious cause for her problems. The causes which are seen are to be managed by supportive treatment and care.
