What Do You Suggest For My Lips Turning Black With White Spots On It?

Hi,last year in May my lips started itching a lot n they went dry, I used every kind of home remedy n drank lot of water..the itching n dryness stopped after sometime but my lips turned black n started remaining dry. After sometime the both corners of my lower lip turned black with tiny white spots on it n it has remained like that since then.my lips have lost the pink color. I dont smoke,i dont drink tea or coffee. I did use a lip balm every nyt last april cuz I was experiencing the dryness since the start of summers.but I stopped using that after lips became itchy.i dnt use any cosmetic producf regulary. I am 24 now, female.

Hi ! I am Dr Shareef answering your query. You have excluded the common causes of blackening of the lip like smoking, caffeine etc. Most likely this happened due to some kind of allergy to any of the medicaments or home remedy which you applied initially. It may be difficult to say on line whether these are due to any allergic reactions, and how long they would take to disappear and up to what extent. If I were your doctor, I would refer you to a dermatologist instead of trying any experimental medicaments on your lips. At the same time you may take plenty of liquids to maintain the moisture content of your lips.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
