Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had blephoritas in my left eye for 5 months. I ve been using tobradex ointment nightly for 3 months. Some weeks were better than others. Every few weeks it comes to a small whitehead just under the eyelashes on the upper lid. At this point it s flared up, I have a red lid, a bump higher UP on the lid ( which is new) and it s come to a head in 2 places right next to each other!! I ve used warm compreses, I clean it nightly with eye lid scrubs and rarely use make up. I do have drops of the same 2 ingrediants which I could use. I ve been told it was clogged tear ducts. I don t know what else to do.
It looks like blepharitis is recurrent and has become chronic. Don't touch your eyes with dirty hands. Clean your eyelids on a regular basis with lid scrubs (Avenova) to prevent the build-up and spread of bacteria, mites or biofilm in the eyelids. Take Omega 3 fatty acid supplements to keep your eyes moist and meibomian glands healthy.
Avoid the application of cosmetics in or around your eyes. Clean your eyes with a cotton swab and rinse it with warm water 2-3 times a day. Use medicated eye drops (Geneticin Eye drops.)
Be careful, blepharitis is sometimes associated with skin conditions, like dandruff, eczema or psoriasis. Visit an Eye specialist, get treated, you may need a pair of photo-chromatic glasses for outdoor wear.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
