What Do White Patches Near The Nose Indicate?

Hi, My daughter is 8 years old and developed 2 small white patches under 1 cm near her nose. Is this any form of deficiency? GP has prescribed MM COD cream and Zincovit. GP advised it is not serious and will go away in a month or two. I m still worried! Any advise please?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The most common reason for hypopigmented lesions (lighter than skin) is a fungal infection of the skin.

It can, as the GP suggested, take a few weeks to resolve in most persons but there are usually no long term consequences.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
