What Do Urge For Frequent Bowel Movement And Abdominal Pain Indicate?

My son is a college student. He recently had an STD scare and went to the ER. The test came back negative but they treated him for it anyway. He is now saying that he has the same lower abd pain, but no penile discharge. He has the erge to have a BM but when he goes very little comes out. He has this erge several times a day. No other symptoms. Suggestions? I gave him some ex-lax to see if that will help. Onset of these symptoms is aprox 1 week and of course I just now heard about it.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of frequent bowel movements and abdominal pain. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like infection by H. Pylori bacteria, gastroenteritis, lactose intolerance, medication reaction or side-effect, food poisoning or viral gastroenteritis and irritable bowel syndrome. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid eating heavy and spicy , eat small and frequent meals, eat 1-2 banana in a day and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain. You should take plenty of fluids to rehydrate body. If condition doesn't get well then consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order certain tests like endoscopy and stool test and take history . Doctor may prescribe loperamide , ornidazole along with anti inflammatory .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
