What Do Upset Stomach, Vomiting And Swollen Eyelids In A Teenager Suggest?
My 14 year old daughter, had an upset stomach last night and vomited early this morning. She has a slight fever and is complaining about a sore stomach (I suspect this could be muscular, from the vomiting). She slep most of the day,and just woke up with swollen eyelids. What could this be?
The simptoms you describe generally are caused by a viral infection which has caused inflammation of the stomach, bowel or both. (gastritis, gastroenteritis). In some cases something eaten before the symptoms started can be responsable. Bacterial infection is rare. If the symtoms are present for too long i recommend to see a doctor for further examinations. Otherwise you have to take light meals, soup, yogurt, etc which are easily digested by the gastrointestial tract. Ranitidine 150 mg twice daily may be used if the stomach pain continues, and lactic ferments to improve digestion. If you found helpul my answer please rate it. All the best for you!
