General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.

You have not mentioned some important things like for what complaints you had visited neurologist. Not mentioned whether the shaking was of your body or just specifically hands. So it is hard to comment what your doctor was looking for.

Neurologist you visited had probably tested your neurological function of maintaining body balance or joint position sense, all of these tests your central nervous system functioning.
Any abnormal result obtained along with positive medical history calls for the investigations you mentioned. These investigations provide information on abnormality in your brain or nerves.

Hope I answered your query.
