What Do These Findings Showing Fatty Infiltration Of Liver Indicate?
Hello Dr. I am Lavonne Gillespie. I ve been diagnosed with fatty liver; findings show liver is fatty infiltrated w/o evidence of focal mass. No evidence of intrahepatic ductal dilatation. Liver measures 17 m in length. What does all this mean in lay language.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... These test means you have fat deposition in liver, with no abnormal mass seen in liver. Liver is measured as 17 cm which is also normal. No evidence of any ductal abnormality in liver. All these give diagnosis of fatty liver. FATTY LIVER is a reversible condition in which large vacuoles of fat accumulate in liver cell. It is mostly caused by alcohol abuse. The condition is also associated with other diseases with faulty fat metabolism such as obesity, diabetes mellitus and many other metabolic diseases. The treatment of fatty liver depends on its cause and, in treating the underlying cause will reverse the process of fat deposition if done at an early stage. If you are alcohilic , you are advised to quit alcohol.
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr vivek goyal
