Hello, my total cholesterol is 211. My calculated LDL is 134. HDL is 47. Triglyceride is 149. I am male, 49 year old. a)how accurate is the calculated LDL result showing risk level? are there better tests that I should ask my cardiologist or primary care physician? b) am I at a greater risk of heart related issues based of the above #s? Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query.Your LDL level is in border high level range.If you done your test in an accredited lab you can believe the results.Lipid profile test is the wide accepted and the only test performed everywhere.It is better to have a LDL below 100.But if you having hypertension or ischaemic heart disease it is advised to keep the LDL level below 70.You can do life style modification and dieting and check your cholesterol after a month.If it is not get lowered then you can start with a low dose statin after consulting your physician.Hope this may help you.
