What Do These BP Readings Despite On Medication Indicate?

I have HTN, which is normally stable with medication. The last week, I have had significantly high readings 141-171/101-125. Currently, 163/111 (at rest). I have cardiac risk factors, such as high cholesterol (genetic) and family history of heart disease. Scheduled to see doctor next week, but are there symptoms I should be alarmed by, which would warrant an ER visit?

I would suggest an earlier ER visit if you have giddiness, headache, blurring of vision , chest pain. 163/111 is usually not desirable but if you are getting a diastolic blood pressure above 100 in various readings, I would recommend you to visit your doctor at the earliest by rescheduling the consultation.
