Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
periodically i find a small hard bump that appears randomly on my arms, and after a couple of years, may shrink but leaves behind a scar that is very hard and feels like a deep pimple. This week I felt something on the tip of my left forefinger, and believe another is forming. What are these?
hi sir/madam, Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
Those little bumps are caused by keratosis pilaris, a common skin condition that usually affects the arms and thighs (although it sometimes appears on the buttocks and face, too). It's caused by a buildup of the protein keratin, which can plug a hair follicle, resulting in a bump. It isn't serious, but it feels rough, looks unsightly, and can be hard to get rid of.
Hope i was helpful. Have a healthy day.
