What Do Red Bumps On The Buttocks Indicate?

My son is 2 and has red bumps on his bottom. They are not diaper rash and don t seem to bother him. They have been there for months. His doctor said they are a type of wart but I am not sure I buy this. some of the bumps have a more whitish head to them and resemble a zit in a way. When I tried to squeeze one my son said it hurt so I quite messing with any of them. Any advice because they seem to be spreading. He now has one on his knee and behind his knee too.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and welcome to "ASK A Doctor" service. I have read your question and here is my advice.

Skin disorders are very difficult to say about without seeing that but what it appears is of can be a type of dermatitis (allergy) specially the atopic dermatitis which is for bit more time and itches. However this can't be said for sure without seeing that. It would have been great if you could have shared a picture with us or you should show him to a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
