What Do Pain In The Pelvic Area And Blood In Urine Indicate?

My son is having sever pain in his pelvic area and blood in his urine. We have been to the ER a few days ago for this reason. They were treating it as a STD, and had him taking antibiotics, the results came back later and it is not a STD. What else could be causing his problems? He has an appointment today, with the doctor.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

1)Do a clinical examination by your [urologist]and do few investigations like [urine RE/ME/Culture, Ultrasound whole abdomen and Cystoscopy]to confirm exact cause.

2)Do take prescribed medications as per clinical findings only.

Do take few lifestyle modifications like this-

1)Try to drink plenty of liquids, especially water.

2)Try to urinate frequently. If you feel the urge to urinate, don't delay using the toilet.

3)Take showers rather than tub baths. If you're susceptible to infections, showering rather than bathing may help prevent them.

4)Gently wash the skin around the anus. Do this daily, but don't use harsh soaps or wash too vigorously. The delicate skin around these areas can become irritated.

5)Empty your bladder as soon as possible after intercourse. Drink a full glass of water to help flush bacteria.

6)Try to avoid using deodorant sprays or feminine products in the genital area. These products can irritate the urethra and bladder.

Hope that helps
