What Do Pain And Swelling On The Left Foot Indicate?

Hello, I have pain and swelling on the top of my left foot near small toe joints and ball of foot, hurts to walk, limping along. went to Dr. 12/05/17 she took xrays, no broken bones or fractures . Her diagnosis was I must have knicked my foot on something while on vacation causing cellulitious and prescribed antibiotics. I do not recall or know if that happened.. I ve been taking the medication everyday since the 5th. Still red with swelling. I have flat feet and use inserts for several years. Also, several years ago saw a foot Dr. who took xrays which indicated bone spurs on top of feet and on both heels.

Hi

Greetings from HealthcareMagic!

I had seen all your case history. It is clear that you had bone spurs or osteophytes. Osteophytes are nothing but bony projections. Osteophytes are generally not harmful and asymptomatic. If symptoms like swelling, pain or difficulty in walking occurs, then medical attention is required. First start using anti inflammatory drugs. If you still feel discomfort or pain, you can go for a surgical removal of bone spurs depending upon size of spur. This is a very simple surgery.

Take Care!
