What Do Pain And Swelling In The Hands And Hips Indicate?

Good evening I am concerned about the amount of pain I experience when I try to sleep at night. . my hands become sore and swollen, my elbow and shoulder pain on my right side. My hip is very painful and I am forced to turn constantly. Neck and back pain is daily. Then I have tingling in my fingers that turn yellow and sometimes blue on the tips, especially my pointer fingers are the worst. Cramping in my feet that toes curl up. I was told by a doctor more than ten years ago that I could have arthritis. Daily pain ...please help. Thanks Gerry - just turned 50

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You may be suffering from chronic pain syndrome or anemia or chronic neuropathy or plexopathy etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Check for thyroid status, hemoglobin level, vitamin B12 and folic acid.

Get X-ray for cervical or lumbar spine, please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
