What Do Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Right Arm Indicate?

Hi Doctors, I ve been drinking a isoniazid for almost 5mo. Because of the latent TB that I have from my immunization back home. All the test for TB is negative but they ask me to have this medication. I suddenly feel a numbness and tingling to my right arm and hand. The first time I feel it I thought it sonly because of my proffesion as a Registered Massage Therapist. But when I search the medicine one of the sideeffects of it, is the numbness and tingling. I ask my doctor about it and said if Im not going to comply with the government by not taking the meds they will deport me, so Im so scared that to happen. But I already discontinue drinking it for now and i don t feel any numb and tingling anymore. Is there any possibilities that I can stop the medication and dont finish it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You ate very right, isoniazid can cause neuropathy which causes tingling and numbness. Howe'ver this side effect can be avoided by taking vitamin B6 with isniaozd. Vit B6 is called pyridoxine. We always precribe pyridoxine with isoniazid. So you should take isoniazid if needed, and the pyridoxine with it to avoid the numbness and tingling.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
