What Do My Blood Test Results Indicate?

Hello doctor, my son is 4 yrs old and has fever since 3-4 days. Got his blood tested and according to the report hemoglobin is 10.2 gms% and wbc is 11900 cells/Cummins and PCB is 30%. Other results looks to be fine and within the normal range. He is on drips as he was little uncomfortable and vomiting. Now he seems to be better. Please can you suggest me how to bring the other parameters which are not in normal range. And also whenever he gets fever or cold he mostly vomit when we give him any syrup after food. Why is it so? Please suggest any remedy for this problem also. Thanks in advance! Regards Anand

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

He should get examined for throat infection or tonsillitis which can also cause vomiting along with high grade fever, but stomach related infections like gastritis etc should be ruled out if fever persists. Many systemic infections can cause vomiting as presenting complaint.

High white cell counts also point to that possibility. He may need a course of antibiotics alongside anti emetics like domperidone or dimenhydrinate. Syp. can be given just along food if taste makes him vomit it. His hemoglobin and other parameters may need iron supplements after acute infection settles to normalize.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
