I am 72 years old I have had bypass operation in 2008 I have now isolated systolic blood pressure n the difference between diastolic n systolic is high about 70 points My blood pressure remains 150/80 Pulse is low about 60 ECG shows bradycardia What bp medicines should i take as I have also got throbbing sensations in my face Pl help John
Hi & Welcome. Based on the history given you seem to have a "mild" type of hypertension. Since, you have already undergone bypass surgery in 2008, I would therefore recommend you to take either an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE)-inhibitor like Lisinopril or angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) like Losartan for the effective control of BP. Another choice would be Hydrochlorothiazide if you are not a diabetic.
These drugs do not decrease the heart rate (bradycardia) and also do not cause throbbing sensation in your face.
So, you may consult your treating physician for the medications.
Hope these answer your query.
